About Storky Adventures

Our story started with an old van and nowhere particular to be.

We’re Lana & Tomm, two travel creators from Devon with a love for the outdoors, road trips and seeing what else is out there!

How it all began

Storky Adventures started with an old VW campervan, a desire to chase freedom and no real idea where any of it would lead.

We’d both always loved travelling and had explored plenty of the world before we were together. Tomm spent time living and working around Australia, while Lana had travelled to multiple countries — including Australia and New Zealand by campervan — so the idea of having a little home on wheels of our own had been floating around for a while!

Not long after the pandemic, and not long after we got together in 2021, we discovered we both had the same dream of owning a campervan. So we finally bought one: an old VW T4 which earned the name ‘Storky’ from its number plate.

We started sharing our little adventures online just for a bit of fun and, naturally, those adventures became Storky Adventures.

We already knew and loved plenty of places closer to home, but Storky gave us a completely different way to explore them. We could throw a few things in the van, head off for the weekend and see where we ended up!

One of our first trips took us to North Cornwall, and it opened our eyes to just how much there was still to discover right here on our doorstep. The more we explored, the more we wanted to see, and before long, those little weekend adventures became a pretty big part of our lives.

Storky was very much a work in progress.

Our little VW wasn’t exactly the dream campervan when we bought it, but that became part of the fun.

We threw ourselves into making it ours, repainting it ourselves with rollers, ripping out and rebuilding the interior, and learning a lot as we went. We even ended up replacing the engine, which meant Storky could finally make it up a hill at more than 10mph. A real transformation!

It was imperfect, occasionally infuriating and completely ours.

We started sharing the process online alongside our trips — the DIY, the places we were finding, the beautiful bits and the inevitable mishaps that come with owning an old campervan.

One road led to another.

Somewhere along the way, people started coming along for the ride.

What began as a place to document our own adventures slowly grew into a community of people swapping recommendations, following the van projects, discovering new places and telling us we’d inspired them to get out and explore too.

That was probably the point when we realised Storky Adventures had become much more than somewhere to post our weekend trips.

Somehow, it became our full-time life.

As the community grew, so did the opportunities to create.

Lana eventually left her previous career to take Storky Adventures full-time, while Tomm continued in his day job alongside planning trips, filming and tackling the never-ending list of things that needed doing to Storky.

Then came our slightly ridiculous idea to do it all over again — only much bigger.

In 2025 we bought an empty van and spent the next eight months turning it into our second campervan completely from scratch. We designed it, built it and learnt an enormous amount through trial and error along the way.

Around the beginning of the build, Tomm took the leap too and left his corporate job to join Storky Adventures full-time.

Suddenly, the adventures we’d once squeezed into weekends had become our everyday life.

And we’re still just as curious.

Today, Storky Adventures is somehow our full-time job, which still feels a little mad to say. But at its heart, not all that much has changed.

We still love throwing some things in the van and heading somewhere new. We still get ridiculously excited over a beautiful stretch of coastline, a road we’ve never driven, a hidden swimming spot or finding somewhere we had absolutely no idea existed.

And we share it all as we go: the road trips, van builds, beautiful places, questionable decisions and the bits that don’t quite go to plan!

The UK will always be a huge part of Storky Adventures. It’s where this whole thing started and, even after all this exploring, we’re still constantly finding places that make us think, “How did we not know this was here?!”

But we’re curious about what’s further afield too. There’s a lot of world out there, and plenty of places still on our list.

More than anything, we hope following our adventures makes you want to go and have some of your own. And that doesn’t mean you need to quit your job, live in a van or disappear off to the other side of the world.

Sometimes it’s just chucking a few things in the car for the weekend. Taking the road you’ve never taken. Going for that swim. Exploring somewhere an hour from home. Or finally doing the thing you keep saying you’ll do “one day”.

Because if an old VW called Storky has taught us anything, it’s that there’s a whole lot more to life and a whole lot out there to see, do and experience.

And we’re still only getting started! We’re very glad you’re coming along for the ride.
